Violence round-up: Police book young man for 'killing' father

KARACHI: The police have booked a young man for allegedly killing his father and injuring his brother-in-law in Orangi Town on Sunday.

Hassan Ali, 22, a resident of Frontier Colony, shot and killed his father, Sardar Ali and wounded his brother-in-law Farman Ali, over a dispute inside their house in Shahiabad within the limits of Pirabad police station. The accused is on the run. SHO Nasir Mehmood said that the suspect's father forced him to get admission in a seminary and had also beaten him when he refused to join. "The father and son had been fighting for a long time until Hassan pulled out his father's pistol and resorted to indiscriminate firing," the officer explained. He ran away from the house right after the shooting.

Meanwhile, the victims were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the doctors pronounced Sardar Ali dead and admitted Farman Ali with critical injuries. The case has been registered, said the police.

Separately, 40-year-old Junaid Chaudhry, who was wounded in a firing incident a couple of days back, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Civil Hospital, Karachi. The deceased was scrap dealer. He was sitting with his friends at a teashop in Ranchore Lane within the limits of Eidgah police station where unidentified armed motorcyclists came and opened fire at him.
