Matricide: IDP slaughters and then cremates octogenarian mother
Tied up 80-year-old mother and his wife before he slaughtered the former
DI KHAN:
A man killed his mother in a small town inhabited by internally displaced persons (IDP) some 6 kilometres from Tank.
All hell broke loose inside the house of Daftar Khan in Bura Khel village on Saturday night. Khan tied up his 80-year-old mother and his wife before he slaughtered the former. He then proceeded to set fire to the corpse, Tank DPO Kifayatullah Wazir told the media. The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Mureed Akbar Shaheed police station.
On Sunday morning locals got together and prepared for the woman’s burial at a graveyard near DI Khan-Tank Road.
“It was a terrible incident that has left us speechless,” said an IDP while talking to The Express Tribune.
DI Khan police detained Khan who was presented before the media. The 36-year-old belongs to Shabi Khel, a sub tribe of the Mehsuds. The tribesmen had migrated to the area in the wake of a military operation in 2009.
Locals said Khan, the father of two, was going through harsh times and seldom spoke to anyone. The reason for murder is speculated to be psychological problems.
