The prison department has penalised 14 employees in different cases of breach of discipline and rules of procedure this year. Demotion, termination and withholding of increments are some of the punishments meted out in a bid to reinforce discipline within the ranks of the department.
Senior assistant to superintendent jail Muhammad Naeem was demoted to a lower rank and pay-scale following the jailbreak of two prisoners detained in Tank.
Warders Nasir Mehmood, Ayatullah and Haseeb were also penalised and dismissed from service in the same case.
Similarly senior assistant to superintendent jail Mukhtiar Haider and another employee Anwar Alam were terminated on charges of prolonged absences.
Sayyar Ahmad was also dismissed from service while Gulfam and Nabiul Haq were demoted for three years when mobile phones were recovered from jail inmates.
