‘Operation Serpent’: FIA arrests aide to ‘FBI-fugitive’
FIA Punjab Director Dr Usman Anwar says detained person was a close aide to Javed Yousaf Hamdani
LAHORE:
A key member of an international network of human traffickers was detained following a raid in connection with ‘operation serpent’ on Friday, The Express Tribune has learnt. The arrest was made by the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle (AHTC) of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Punjab chapter. FIA Punjab Director Dr Usman Anwar said the detained person was a close aide to Javed Yousaf Hamdani — the most wanted fugitive by FBI, who is also wanted by Canadian police. Interpol has issued his red notices to the US and Canadian governments. He said that during investigation of Hamdani’s case, also known as “Operation Serpent”, FIA AHTC Lahore has arrested a notorious agent Mujahid Ali, a resident of Sabzazar Lahore. He was the point man for making forged travel documents in this case, as disclosed by Hamdani, said Anwar.
