Appointment urged: PHDEC CEO post vacant for over a year
PHDEC’s role of being a facilitator had not been experienced yet
KARACHI:
Stakeholders of the horticulture industry have urged the government to immediately appoint the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Pakistan Horticulture Development and Export Company (PHDEC), a post that has been vacant for over a year. The Ministry of Commerce had published an advertisement for the appointment of the CEO in October 2013, but nobody was hired so far. In a press release on Friday, Harvest Tradings Director Ahmad Jawad said for the last five years the company had been performing poorly. All export contributions including the organisation of major events had been done by the private sector as PHDEC’s role of being a facilitator had not been experienced yet. Moreover, the organisation’s employees also suffered as they had not been getting their salaries on time, he added.
