Bench-bar relations: Judge denies his colleague had humiliated lawyers

Courts can not function in the absence of lawyers, the bench and bar should respect each other says Justice of LHC

Justice Manzoor A Malik of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday denied that Justice Kazim Raza Shamsi had made derogatory remarks against lawyers.


He was responding to condemnation by some Lahore Bar Association representatives who had accused the judge of humiliating lawyers during a hearing.


Justice Malik told lawyers at Aiwan-i-Adl the newspaper that had published the news about the alleged remarks had been asked to publish a clarification. He said courts could not function in the absence of lawyers. The bench and bar should respect each other, he said.
