KARACHI:

Following the 'threats' issued to Sindhi-speaking officers working in the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) and attack on them in various areas of Karachi, the senior officials of the board staged a protest in front of the Sindh Assembly on Friday.

They demanded action to be taken against the culprits. "We have been facing serious threats since last month," claimed Malir assistant tax director Muhammad Qasim Magsi. "Some elements are asking us to leave Karachi." He added that two other officers, including KWSB deputy director Zulfiqar Brohi and an accounts officer, Mir Hassan Magsi, were injured on Thursday when they did not give in to the threats. After the brief protest, more than three dozen officers left for the Bilawal House.

Meanwhile, Karachi additional commissioner Mohammad Aslam Khoso has written a letter to intelligence agencies to provide protection to Sindhi-speaking officers.
