Civil society join candlelight event to express solidarity with Palestinians

KARACHI:

A candlelight ceremony and photo exhibition were held at the Press Club by Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) in memory of the martyrs of Palestine and Al-Quds. Leaders from various political and religious parties, members of the press, and social figures attended the event and lit candles in solidarity.

Speaking to participants, provincial president Allama Baqir Abbas Zaidi said that Jummah al-Widaa is observed worldwide as Global Quds Day and that rallies and gatherings will be organised across Pakistan to express protest against Israeli atrocities. He urged citizens to record their "exemplary protest" on this day and called upon scholars delivering Friday sermons to show support for oppressed Palestinians.

Zaidi strongly condemned Israel, calling it the "enemy of humanity," and extended salutations to all resistance organisations, including Hamas, Hezbollah, and Ansar Allah. He paid tribute to Martyr Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and the martyrs of the struggle for Jerusalem, vowing to defend Palestinians to the last drop of blood.

He said that the martyrs of resistance have shattered the arrogance of colonial powers, including Israel and the US, and warned that the Zionist dream of "Greater Israel" will never be fulfilled. Zaidi also highlighted global protests against American and Israeli aggression and expressed hope that, God willing, the "Great Satan" and its illegitimate offspring Israel will be eliminated, and Al-Quds (Jerusalem) will be liberated.

Rally in Karachi shows solidarity with Pakistan Army

Meanwhile, a rally was held to express solidarity with the Pakistan Army over Operation Ghazb-ul-Haq. Led by Toqeer Ahmed, the procession moved from UP Mor New Karachi to Rizvia Chowrangi, Nazimabad, drawing participation from women, children, youth, and senior citizens.

A notable feature of the rally was the symbolic burning of effigies representing Afghanistan and India, expressing public anger and dissent.
