Peace Initiative: K-P govt signs MoU to counter violence

The Home and Tribal Affairs department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PAIMAN Alumni Trust to counter violent extremism, calling it the need of the hour. A statement issued by the Home and Tribal Affairs department on Friday said the MoU was signed by Home and Tribal Affairs Secretary Syed Akhtar Ali Shah and PAIMAN Alumni Trust Executive Director Musarrat Qadeem. Both parties will initially collaborate in four districts; Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda and Swat. They aim to establish a referral mechanism for an early warning and response system that engages police and the community in positive discourse.
