A group of armed men stormed a police check post near Quetta in the early hours of Friday and shot dead a police constable, before fleeing with two small machine guns.
Around 10 to 12 armed men attacked the check post in Killi Nasiran near Hanna Bypass, on the outskirts of Quetta.
“The assailants opened fire at four police personnel. One of the police constables resisted and refused to lay down his weapon and, as a consequence, was shot dead,” a police official told The Express Tribune.
The deceased has been identified as Sultan.
Police started a search operation shortly after the incident.
No group has claimed responsibility for the robbery yet.
