ASI killed, 5 injured in attacks on Karachi police

KARACHI:
An ASI was killed while five people were injured in attacks on police vans in different parts of Karachi, Express News reported on Friday.
Unidentified armed men riding a motorbike opened fire at a police vehicle near Parking Plaza in Saddar and injured three policemen including the ASI who succumbed to his wounds on his way to hospital.
The ASI’s body and two injured policemen were taken to Jinnah hospital. The policemen are said to have serious injuries.
Another police van was targeted near Tibet Centre on MA Jinnah Road with a cracker bomb. Three people including a woman and a child were injured in the attack.
The injured were shifted to Civil hospital for medical assistance.
Sindh AIG Ghulam Qadir Thebo, while speaking to the media, said members of banned militant outfits were targeting police in the city.
He stressed that no number of attacks can demoralise his force.
With number of attacks on police force increasing at a fast rate, the provincial authorities are considering imposing a ban on pillion riding in Karachi.
