Moment of madness: Man confesses to killing wife for being unfaithful
Claims he disrobed her body to set an example for other women.
MANSEHRA:
Police claim to have traced the killer who brutally murdered a young woman seven months ago and dumped her naked body in a remote village of Oghi tehsil.
On April 12, police found the body of a woman in Karori village and shifted it to the hospital, Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Salman Khan told journalists on Tuesday. The unclothed body bore several marks of torture and bullet wounds, he added.
However, as no one claimed the body, police buried it after collecting fingerprints and other evidence for investigation. DSP Khan said a family from Qalandarabad initially claimed the deceased was their relative, but failed to produce any documentary proof.
Later, with the help of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), the deceased was identified as Laiba, 21, daughter of Naimat Ali, a resident of Faisalabad.
During investigation, police traced her cell phone and collected data that helped investigators reach Muhammad Usman, said the DSP. He added police then arrested Usman, who said he bought Laiba from a woman residing in a posh locality. Laiba was working there as a maid.
Usman added Laiba was sold to the woman after her mother’s death by her father, a heroin addict.
According to the DSP, Usman and Laiba had an affair, as a result of which Usman bought Laiba from her employer for an undisclosed amount and moved her to Mansehra where they started living in a rented house in Ghazikot Township. They later got married.
Usman also started his own poultry business with Shah Rehman, a resident of Chamiyal Oghi village, and the couple was living comfortably. However, according to the DSP, Usman started developing suspicions about Laiba’s character. On April 11, he allegedly tortured Laiba before shooting her dead.
The accused later transported her body to Karori with the help of his friend and business partner Shah Rehman and dumped it by the roadside after disrobing it.
The accused was also presented in front of the media. Usman confessed he murdered Labia after he found out about her affair with Shahid Abbasi, a man from the same locality.
Usman said their housemaid informed him several times of Abbasi visiting their residence in his absence. He added he warned Laiba to stay away from Abbasi, but she did not pay heed.
“Yes I disrobed her body after the murder. I wanted to make her an example for other women who betray their husbands,” Salman told the media.
The court of judicial magistrate here on Tuesday sent the accused and his abettor to Mansehra district jail on judicial remand.
