Shutter down strike in parts of Balochistan
Trade and business activities in Turbat, Panjgur, Gwadar, Kalat, Mastung, Kharan, Awaran and other Baloch dominated areas came to a complete standstill.
BSO-Azad had called for a strike in order to pay tribute to slain Baloch political activists, highlight the issue of enforced disappearances, recovery of mutilated bodies and inaction of human rights organisations.
Strict security measures were adopted on Tuesday with contingents of security forces, police and Balochistan Levies deployed to thwart any untoward incident during the strike.
“Baloch political leaders have been struggling since 1839 and have given endless sacrifices. Baloch people are still being subjected to enforced disappearances and tortured in illegal cells,” a BSO-Azad spokesperson said.
They lamented that BSO-Azad chairman Zahid Baloch is also among those missing.
The spokesperson said there will be strikes across Balochistan for three days to pay tribute to those killed and to highlight human rights violations.
