Red carpet round-up: MTV EMAs 2014

We’re fixated on the fashion that dominated this year’s red carpet at the 2014 EMAs

The stars were out in force for the MTV European Music Awards (EMAs) on Sunday night, held at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro Arena. The 2014 EMAs celebrated music’s finest, but we’re fixated on the fashion that dominated this year’s red carpet. The best looks of the MTV EMAs red carpet spoke more to classic dresses and clever silhouettes. From iridescent, curve-hugging black gowns to airy, vintage mini dresses, we were enthralled by the fashion trends we saw. Here are our picks from the evening.

Alesha Dixon

She was a head-turner at the EMAs in the Mary Katrantzou dress. The Breathe Slow singer made us lose our breath in this unique printed shirt-dress. It featured a navy pinstripe background with a multicoloured design emblazoned across the front. The frock was cut in a trapeze-style, keeping her slender curves well-hidden, but she managed to flash her enviable pins. She finished off her eclectic look with slicked-back hair and a glossy berry shade on her lips. Sporting a unique look in a stylish pin-stripe and penguin-adorned dress, the British beauty looked ravishing. Teamed with vertiginous black strappy sandals, Alesha’s look was bold and busy, but she pulled it off with finesse.

Ariana Grande

The Bang Bang singer led the fashionable pack on the evening in a slinky black number. Ariana sported a stylish frock featuring a key-hole cut-out detail, putting the focus on her lean, toned arms. The cut-out panels on the dress, which was from Michael Kors’ Spring 2013 collection, added a graphic element to its simple design. The hitmaker wore her long, glossy locks down, cascading over her shoulders, instead of tying them in her trademark ponytail. The black heeled sandals and bold lip completed her look with minimal jewellery and white nail colour.

Jena Malone

The 29-year-old Hunger Games actor worked an all-blue outfit, as she posed on the red carpet at the EMAs. The Game of Thrones starlet opted for an iridescent blue high-necked, fit-and-flare dress by Azzedine Alaïa with a charming A-line flirty skirt that appeared to have a glittery blitz effect all over it. The blue sleeveless look was more suitable for a garden party than the MTV EMAs and failed to level up to the glamour of the function. She finished her straightforward look with metallic blue heels. Although the whole ensemble looked slightly boring, her striking red hair and peachy cheeks were pleasing to the eye.

Vicki Pattison

The British TV star chose a traditional floor-length black sequined halter neck gown, which shouted high fashion. Dazzling in the black sheer gown with a small trail by Miss Francesca Couture, Vicki definitely brought her best leg forward. The diva contrasted the conventional look with colourful wristbands and a red flower. Dressed to impress, the Geordie Shore star wore her hair, newly-dyed back to her natural chocolate colour, in a ladylike updo that curled neatly at her nape.
