SADIQABAD: Locals in several districts of Punjab have complained of standing sewerage water in the streets during the Eid holidays. Mazhar Farid Colony, Mujahid Colony, Bismillah Town, Faiz Colony, Mustafa Town, General bus stand, Ghulam Rasool colony, Abid colony, Muhajir colony, Ghafforabad, Gujjar town, Jatt colony, Arain colony, Satellite town and other areas remained submerged in sewerage water filled with animal blood and remains.

Locals said that they had to cross the streets filled with sewerage to perform their Eid prayers. Residents Imam Din, Liaqat Ali, Attaullah, Fahim, Abdul Qayum, Muhammad Ashraf and Abdul Rehman said that in spite of the Punjab government’s instructions the tehsil municipal administration (TMA) Sadiqabad did not clean up any of the manholes in the district and the blood of sacrifical animals had clogged up all major sewer lines.

Locals demanded that the district coordination officer (DCO) and commissioner Rahim Yar Khan should take notice of this and they also said that the TMA had not taken any interest in helping the citizens.

Locals said that they would surround the TMA offices and protest if the administration did not clean up the streets as soon as possible.
