QUETTA:
Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) of Dera Murad Jamali along with five of his children were gunned down by unidentified men in Haji Sher in Dadhar area of Kachhi district of Balochistan on Tuesday.
Five others, including three women, were injured in intense firing.
According to the official of Balochistan Levies Kamran Khan Raisani, TMO Mehraj Umerani and his family were on their way to Quetta from Dera Murad Jamali when assailants travelling in another car opened fire on them on the National Highway in Haji Sher, Dadhar.
“There were eleven people in the car when it came under the attack. TMO and five of his children died while five others, including three women were seriously wounded,” DC Kachhi Ahmed Ali Siddiqi told The Express Tribune.
All the six victims sustained serious bullet wounds and died on the spot.
While the attackers managed to flee from the scene, police suspect the killing could be motivated by personal/tribal enmity.
“The dead bodies and injured were taken to the Civil Hospital, Sibi,” added Siddiqi. “It is the case of a personal and tribal enmity. Baluchistan Levies personnel have mounted the search operation in the area."
