Sajjad Masih and his wife Shama Bibi – brick kiln workers from Chak-59 of Kot Radha Kishan, Kasur – were brutally killed on November 4 for allegedly desecrating the Holy Quran.
Speaking to Express News after a prayer ceremony held for his parents, the son said the mob attacked their house and beat up his parent before tying them to a tractor and dragging them around in the area. According to his account, the couple was then thrown in the furnace.

Father of Shama, who had been taking care of the children since the incident, said he fears for his and his grandchildren’s lives and is changing locations for safety reasons.
Calling for public execution of his daughter’s murderers, the father said strict action should be taken against the culprits.
Since the incident took place, police have arrested many suspects, however, the main accused is still at large.
Setting the record straight, Shama’s father also said the picture shown in the media as Shama’s was in fact her niece’s. He said he will soon reveal the picture of his daughter once he gains access to her belongings which are currently in police custody.

@pakistani: wonder what this kid will grow up to
Now he will grow up to be a Pakistani and that is the greatest danger, unfortunately.
My comments have all been ignored. I am getting disappointed with ET or some of its members who are not including my comments. The photo of wrong person would help the criminals in their release. They would prove that the alleged murdered woman is still alive and the case is false. It is a shame that the real culprits are not punished otherwise these incidents would not take place. Qadri is sitting pretty in jail and treated as VIP despite on death row.
@MJ: The bigger question is what made him the way he is? What were the core values, the driving force and zeal with which people like him do such things? The world over these things are attributed to the one faith and people of that faith. Why is that? Are reforms needed? Are these values help or hindering society? If we can not question these very things it s dogma and no more. Love of God, should make us more compassionate, love should fill our hearts and no one should be pushed into loving God, that is not real love but fear. Faith should unburden us all not shackle us. God gave us free will, why is that free will being stifled? Just things to ponder, I am not asking you to change but to question. It goes for all faiths.
@adnan: i agree with you Adnan. we cant just let anyone, who are illiterate rule us. its we who as one nation need to decide a vision for our homeland. Pakistan is beautiful but our leaders have portrayed it a vicious circle that has no end to such destructions.
Until we as a nation stop glorifying murdering thugs like Qadri, these incidents will continue happening. The people who take the law in their own hands, especially Mumtaz Qadri should be hanged from the gallows in the middle of Lahore so that copycat murderers will think twice before killing someone under the false sense of self righteousness.
What ever is the outcome but Islam is saved after this....
For how long we will be scared from these so called saviors of islam who gather 10 people, make a mosque and start preaching hate.
its time mosques and their imams are scrutinized and regulated
Am I the only one who thinks that it absolutely, indecent and just plain wrong to ask a 6 year old child to narrate, for broadcast TV, how his parents were killed.
There is something seriously wrong with Pakistani society.
@History Lesson:
Seriously? If there will be a nuclear war, it is not only Pakistan that has to watch out. It'd destroy both countries and perhaps couple of more countries of the region, and will perhaps push the entire world in to a deep recession!
Which is why only a irrational act of using nukes even in case a war is dreaded by all nations. Even USA, which is a warmongering nation, has never used Nukes after 1945. There can't be any justification for it, other than another nation using nukes against you.
India and Pakistan will soon go to war, and it will be the world's first full-scale nuclear war. A nuclear fallout will happen, and any efforts to prevent it is only going to delay it.
Pakistan is going down the drain, day by day. Soon Balochistan will separate, then "tensions" in the Pashtun heartland, adding humiliation to humiliation.
If you live in denial today, you will weep bitterly tomorrow. Pakistan, watch out.
@glassyman: Mahavira is the father of nonviolence.
Mahavira the Jain patriarch, outbade the morality of all religions with a single sentence: "Do not injure, abuse, oppress, enslave, insult, torment, torture, or kill any creature or living being."
A Jain that joins the armed forces or consumes animal meat is as fake and as a Muslim male who would claim not be circumcised!
I am companioned with several Jain families who do not even eat garlic or onions and neither rent their houses or apartments to anyone who consume meat, garlic, onions!
This is not an isolated incident. It happens with regularity. In the self-proclaimed fortress of Islam. The mobs, and individual perps, in all cases, are clearly motivated by religious fervor. As the case of Aasia Bibi and other similar cases show, when people somehow escape mob violence, the law will still not help them. As the case of Mumraz Qadri shows, Muslims from all walks of life in Pakistan considers killing in the name of blasphemy to be an admirable thing to do.
So please please please don't try to tell us that this has nothing to do with Islam. We are not idiots.
@goggi (Lahore): For example in the whole Indian Army we shall not find one single Jain!
That would mean you are grossly incompetent
@goggi (Lahore): False claim about Jains not joining army.
That kid needs some serious counseling.
@Shah Hussain Afridi: You hAVE NO SHAME;iT IS not capitalism, but people like you and their attitudes that minorities are killed constantly in Pakistan
@Timorlane: politicize everything to divide people opinion. if SS goes to them its photoshoot, if he doesnt go to them he is careless. btw, IK could also have gone there and have a good shot to make job of PTI facebook brigade easy. depending on advice of media consultants the photo can be added to the album of well orchestrated simplicity of IK
happy??? now comments are divided
Looking at the comments it seems that some commentators are relying on such incidents to gain a sense of superiority. Its almost as if they look forward to such barbaric acts so that they can assert their delusional self righteousness on others.
This newspaper has a policy to put hateful remarks of Indians. Any rebuttal from peace-loving Indians or Pakistanis is never printed. Editors: what side of the aisle are you? If Pakistan or its freedom of press itches you too much, take your damn newspaper across the border and join hands with RSS. As regards Indian hatemongers: Looks like they do not have a daytime job or they work for some agency whose only job is to spend all energies on anti-Pakistan propaganda. Get over Pakistan-phobia. This is a resilient nation and country. We have survived under all internal and external pressures and will come out of future crises just fine.
@Jat: You are nothing but a small time warmonger. @ raw is war: Look every country of the world has minorities. Spitting anti Pakistan venom will not help either of us. Think in a rational way and try to develop a positive look.
Everyone is shocked and sad but nobody has any solution. We condemn and criticize such incidents but majority would join crowd or keep their mouths shut when someone is being oppressed. Simple truth is that any Nation which encourages intolerance cannot provide justice to oppressed after tragedy.
@goggi (Lahore): Jain may or may not be in Army, but they want to have a protected life of their physical existence along with seeking protection of their wealth, property just like any other Indian. To my mind, it is expecting from state to provide protection but giving back nothing physically to protect others . If only their tax rupees were sufficient for providing protection, then may be they are not guilty. But who goes to lay their lifef from wealthy families. Do the politicians or industrians send their loved ones? Anyway, worry about how succor can be given to indefensible ones like this one who have no voice in Pakistan. There is no point worrying about India if they are better or worse.
@jg If you really want to fix problems in Pakistan, the first thing is for you to recognize there are serious problems. Unfortunately you are not there.
In India, the constitution does not discriminate people as in Pakistan. Every one is an equal citizen. In a massive country of its size, there are people who violate the constitution in India. You would like to cling on to these rare exceptions.
The problem is your education. You have taken what you study in Pakistan Studies to be real information.
What's all this noise about a few minority people being killed in Pakistan? They should be thankful that they had been allowed to live so long in the Islamic Republic. Also, why hasn't some mullah taken this 6 year old to the local mosque for conversion.
On another note, Pakistanis are a peaceful people following the religion of peace, where killing 1 person is like killing entire humanity. Wrong acts of a 'misguided few' shouldn't be used to tar the entire nation/community.
That's a batman in making!
"Since the incident took place, police have arrested many suspects, however, the main accused is still at large."
He will remain "at large" and even in the unlikely event if "apprehended" he will get away scot free. Thats how things!
@Jat Typically silly remark!
@jg: Would have appreciated constructive criticism
I appreciate your willingness to listen to constructive criticism. But...
...but please do a simple exercise - for Pakistan find out what was the percentage of minorities and Ahemadis in 1947, and compare it to today's percentage. And then do the same for India.
I will believe the figures you present, and then we will discuss this further, right here.
Waiting...
The entire nation of Pakistan will one day pay for the sins of these handful of "guardians of faith".
Who thought it was ok to ask a six year old to narrate this incident? Have these people no shame? PEMRA should be abolished if its only purpose is to ban a certain network on the orders of aabpara.
Western pro media just wanna stop the way of spreading Islam but they can't . It was not the incident of blasphemi but it was a power and poverty match . Islam can't b blame for it . Capitalism and feudalism is the root cause of poverty intolerance and ignorance in the state . They just keep us salve .
These at hourly intervals repeating brutal crimes of human killings are a widespread deadly epidemic in Pakistan...........therefore it is EVERYONE´s concern!
When we go on the rampage and shout in our anger and obsession, KILL HER/HIM, either in the name of blasphemy or in the name of law and justice or in the name of country, then we inevitably become the stooges of the human inherent Killer Instinct...........WHICH WE ALL WANT TO CONQUER?
Compassion for all living beings is the message of Enlightened Sages of our Subcontinent! For example in the whole Indian Army we shall not find one single Jain!
A heinous crime which is being dealt by law enforcing agencies. All in Pakistan condemned. Crime not only in Pakistan but elsewhere in the world.
@Sunil: Would have appreciated constructive criticism. But saying that our days are numbered, well don't forget lynching, burning to death of dozens of Christian in India.further, worry about your cohesion after throning of Mr Modi.
I hope the murderers are brought to justice. There is no excuse for blasphemy but it still has to be proven before any punishment is to be made against the accused. Unfortunately for our country, the trial comes after the punishment. And then Islam is then given a bad reputation.
The so called contractors of Islam who themselves became judge and jury should be hanged in the public in the same village where they murdered this family. Islam don't give us any right to commit such sins based on rumors.
just the fact that Christians in Pakistan have to use Muslim names gives you an inkling to the poor state of their minorities. Even Hindus seem to use Muslim sounding names just to escape general persecution.
India and Pakistan should have a pact where minorities of both nations should be exchanged. This will help them reduce persecution. Pakistanis seem to tolerate nobody except Sunni muslims.
Tortured, dragged behind a tractor, and then burnt alive...
Time for Indian Army to dust their war plans; we just can't sit and watch all this...
Painful and shameful. Ashamed. That's all I can say.
The couple did lose their lives but look at the bright side "Khadim e Aala" had yet another chance to appear before cameras acting very concerned and grieved.
Excellent human rights record and freedom of worship in Pakistan. You have the cheek as Muslims to complain about other nations. Your days are numbered.
wonder what this kid will grow up to. We as a society have failed to protect his parents. What a disgrace as a nation we are on the planet earth.
