Relatives of a seventh grade student who was beaten up by his teacher staged a protest
FAISALABAD:
Relatives of a seventh grade student who was beaten up by his teacher staged a protest demonstration on Saturday near Toba Tek Singh.
The demonstrators gathered at the Malkanwala Chowk and blocked it for traffic. Abdur Rauf, one of the protesters, said 11-year-old Adeel was enrolled in the elementary school of Chak 154-GB. “On Saturday, one of Adeel’s class fellows accused him of stealing his book. The teacher then beat him up with a stick until he fainted,” Rauf said. “When we learned about the incident, we went to the school, but the teacher had fled by then,” he said. Gojra City SHO Aftab Siddiqui and Saddar Gojra SHO Umar Hayat talked to the protesters and assured them that stern action would be taken against the school teacher. The protesters then dispersed.
