Levies officials safely detonate IED planted by a roadside in Khar.

KHAR/LOWER DIR:
Two suspected militants were killed in shoot-outs in Bajaur Agency and Lower Dir district on Saturday while four were arrested.

According to a Bajaur Levies official, based on intelligence information, levies and khasadar forces launched a crackdown in Gowati area of Mamond tehsil early Saturday morning.

During the operation, suspected militants opened fire on the joint team, but no one was injured. “A suspected militant was shot dead in retaliatory fire,” added the levies official.

Following the incident, levies and khasadars surrounded the area and launched a search in which four suspected militants were held. “Five AK-47s and eight grenades were seized from them and they were shifted to an undisclosed location for investigation,” he said.

In agency headquarters Khar, an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by unidentified militants along the roadside was safely disposed of by the levies force.

A pedestrian spotted the device in Bandha Babar Shah and informed the paramilitary troops who rushed to the site and safely detonated the IED.
