Rigging allegation: Inspection of NA-122 votes put off

Regional election commissioners say polling records of 2 Punjab Assembly seats, an NA seat had gotten jumbled together

LAHORE:

The inspection of polling records of NA-122 (Ayaz Sadiq versus Imran Khan) was postponed due to the unavailability of complete records at the district and sessions court, which was supposed to start verification of the votes on Friday.

Ashfaq Sarwar, the regional election commissioner, said polling records of two Punjab Assembly seats and a National Assembly seat had gotten jumbled together and were therefore not produced at the court. He said that they had asked the Punjab election commission to allow them to separate the records. He said they will announce the next date after they were granted permission.

Several political workers had gathered at the court to monitor the inspection. After it was postponed, members of the PTI started shouting “Go Nawaz, Go”. That met with shouts of “Ro Imran Ro” from the PML-N camp. The party workers got into a tiff but the police stationed at the court dispersed the crowd.
