The case was registered on a complaint by a head constable

FAISALABAD:
Police on Friday registered a First Information Report (FIR) two people in Jhang on charges of blasphemy.

A case was registered on the complaint of Amanullah, a head constable of the security branch at Kotwali police station.

Amanullah said he was on duty at a mourning procession on the fourth of Muharram at Fowara Chowk in Rail Bazaar.

He said while the procession was passing through the Bazaar Chowk near a mosque, Ahmed Khan* – one of the suspects — passed derogatory remarks prohibited under Section 295-A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). SHO Kotwali Aamir Sajjad Cheema sent Amanullah’s report to the legal branch of the police department, after which police registered a case on Thursday night under section 295-A of the PPC. The investigation of the case was assigned to Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Police Shakoor Ahmad.
