Contempt of court: Court puts four former, incumbent cricket officials on notice

IHC had declared their petition against PCB frivolous and fined Rs1 million each

ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday issued notices to four former and an incumbent regional member of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for not complying with the court orders.

Justice Athar Minullah issued notices to Major (retd) Ahmed Nadeem Sadal (Islamabad), Amir Nawab (Abbotabad), Mir Haider Ali Khan (Hyderabad) and Muhammad Rafiq Bogiou (Larkana).

The court directed them to submit replies till December 5 in response to a contempt petition filed by the PCB. The board had requested the court to start contempt proceedings against the five persons for not complying with the court orders.

On September 5, the court had imposed a fine of Rs1 million each on the four while declaring their petitions against PCB frivolous.

The court had directed the four petitioners to submit the fine to the cricket board through a deputy registrar of the Islamabad High Court.

The cricket board in its contempt petition maintained that despite
the court orders the respondents did not submitted the fine which is a violation of court order and requested the court to start contempt of court proceedings against them.
