Protest: Rickshaw drivers demand low LPG price

The protesters shouted slogans against the local LPG dealers who have ignored the government’s new policy

LARKANA:

The Rickshaw Drivers Labour Union leaders held a large demonstration by parking their vehicles all around the Jinnah Bagh roundabout in Larkana on Thursday.

They were demanding the authorities implement the low LPG prices that the government had announced earlier. The demonstration was led by Gulzar Gopang, Ghulam Qadir Soomro, Nazir Lund, Mahboob Mastoi, Ghulam Sarwar Soomro and other union leaders.

The protesters shouted slogans against the local LPG dealers who have ignored the government’s new policy. They said that they are poor and work for long hours to earn livelihoods for their families but the low prices are being denied to them by these dealers.

The government announced a reduction of Rs25 per kilogramme (kg) in LPG rates on October 27 but the local dealers are still selling it at Rs143 per kg, which is unjust and an open violation of the government directives, said a protester.
