Constable, suspected militant killed in shoot-out
Police signalled a taxi to stop but the passengers opened fire.

A police constable and a suspected militant were killed on Thursday morning in a shoot-out on Mashogagar Road, in the limits of Badhaber police station.
According to the police, a mobile was patrolling the area when the policemen spotted a taxi coming from the direction of Khyber Agency. When the vehicle was signalled to stop, one of the passengers opened fire and lobbed a grenade at the policemen.
As a result of the firing, a constable of the special police force, Senjab Khan, died on the spot. Fortunately, the grenade failed to explode and the shooter was shot dead in retaliatory fire, an official of the Badhaber police told The Express Tribune.
He added the taxi driver and the deceased shooter’s accomplice managed to flee in their vehicle.
According to the policeman, the suspected militant’s body was yet to be identified because two separate IDs were found on him. Along with a 9mm pistol, a school card with the name Amir and a doctor’s prescription pad with the name Adil were found on his body.
“The identity card was that of a school in Mian Gujar, but he seemed to be at least 25 years old and cannot be a school student,” said the police official. He further said the deceased shooter “was dressed like a Khyber Agency tribesmen” and could have been a target killer. “Lashkar-e-Islam militants are fleeing Bara due to the ongoing military operation; maybe he was one of them,” he speculated.
