QUETTA: Two police personnel were injured after their police mobile was bombed in Kech district, Balochistan, Thursday morning.

According to a Turbat Levies official, the police mobile was on its way to Tump from Turbat when it was attacked with a roadside Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Asiabad area of Tum.

“The IED was planted by unidentified persons and detonated through a remote control when the vehicle reached Asiabad,” the official told The Express Tribune.

As a result, two personnel were injured, while the vehicle was also damaged. The injured personnel were shifted to the Turbat hospital, where they are said to be out of danger.

They have were identified as constables Mohammed Arif and Mohammed Asif.

A group is yet to claim responsibility for the explosion.

Kech is one of the worst insurgency-hit areas in Balochistan, where clashes between security forces and Baloch militants often take place.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan’s Balochistan chapter says hundreds of local Baloch have migrated from Kech district due to the volatile situation.
