Two men shot on their way back from cemetery

Two people were shot dead by unidentified men in separate incidents in Garhi Yasin and Naushero Feroze on Tuesday. Both men were on their way back from the graveyard.


The first incident took place near Bhutta Goth situated within the limits of the Garhi Yasin police in the Shikarpur district. A man identified as Sajjad Dayo was killed while another was injured by armed men. He had come to visit the graves of his parents near Bhutta Goth along with his friend, Abdul Jabbar. When they left the graveyard after reciting Fateha, three armed motorcyclists signalled them to stop but they sped away. The unidentified men opened fire at them and Dayo was killed on the spot. Jabbar was injured, while the assailants fled.

The head constable at the Garhi Yasin police station, Nadeem Husain, said that this was a robbery incident. The alleged robbers had signalled the two men to stop and had opened fire when they did not comply. The police rushed to the scene and shifted the body and the injured to Garhi Yasin Hospital. A case has yet to be registered.

Separately, a man identified as Ghulam Nabi Channa was killed by unidentified assailants in the Menhoon Kolachi village near Bhiria Road situated in Naushero Feroze. The incident took place within the limits of the Tharo Shah police.

Channa, a resident of Bhiria Road, was visiting the graves of his relatives when unidentified men shot at him and fled. No case was registered till the filing of this report. According to Tharo Shah assistant head constable Ashraf Ali, Channa was apparently killed over a land dispute that he had with the Kolachi community since long.
