
At least six persons died while several others were injured when roofs of two houses collapsed in different districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
The roof of Fazal Rabbi’s house in Hayagai East village of Upper Dir caved in, burying several members of the family alive under the debris. Locals rushed to rescue the family after the incident and succeeded in pulling out four people alive while the other four died. The deceased are Fazal Rabbi’s wife and his three grandsons. The four injured persons were admitted to District Headquarters Hospital.
In Swabi, Riazul Haq and his wife were buried alive when the roof of their house collapsed in Kunda village. Their bodies were later taken out of the debris. Their five-year-old son survived. Riazul Haq had recently come home on leave from Saudi Arabia where he was working.
Tragedy strikes
Three people were injured when the roof of a house collapsed on Wednesday in Damorai area of Shangla district. An official of Karora police said Tanzeemullah, Farmanullah and a woman whose name could not be ascertained, were in a room at the house when the incident occurred. They were trapped under the debris of the roof, the official added. Nearby residents rushed to the site and rescued them. The injured were shifted to the hospital and are in a stable condition.
In a separate incident, a woman and one of her granddaughters died while another girl was injured during a landslide on Wednesday in Khogakhel area of Landikotal. Nearby residents rushed to the spot and pulled out the bodies of the deceased. The injured girl was shifted to Landikotal Hospital and is in stable condition.
