Three children killed as mortar fired by Indian forces explodes in Narowal
The children had found the un-exploded mortar lying in the fields and brought it home where it exploded on Tuesday
NAROWAL:
Three children were killed when a mortar fired by Indian forces into Pakistan, exploded in Tughalpura village, Narowal on Tuesday, Express News reported.
The children, Hunzula, Saira and Hafeezullah, had found the previously un-exploded mortar shell in a field in Tughalpura near the border with India. Thinking it a toy, they started playing with it before taking it home. The mortar shell later exploded, killing the children.
Residents claimed that the mortar had been fired by Indian security forces.
DSP Irfanullah said that the children had found the shell fired by Indian forces on Monday. However, it exploded on Tuesday.
On October 29, Pakistan had lodged a protest with India after their forces shot dead an elderly villager who had inadvertently crossed the border while tending to his fields.
At least 14 people have been killed by unprovoked Indian firing across the Line of Control and the Working Boundary since early October.
PM orders probe
The Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif took notice of the incident and ordered an investigation while condoling the grieving families of the children.
