Quaid-e-Azam Trophy: WAPDA record fourth straight win
Wapda continue to top the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (Gold) with their fourth consecutive win, but almost made a meal of the small 89-run target against the Karachi Dolphins at the National Stadium, Karachi.
Wapda started day four on 15-1, needing just 74 more runs to win but lost six more wickets as Mir Hamza finished with figures of 5-33, while Adeel Malik claimed the other two.
Meanwhile, UBL defeated Lahore Lions by an innings and 54 runs as Ali Zahid dismissed five of the Lions batsmen, with Adil Raza also claiming three. UBL made an impressive 471-9 in their first innings, while Lions – who scored 216 in their first innings – were bowled out for 201 in their second innings.
At the Diamond Ground, SNGPL won by 144 runs against hosts Islamabad Leopards, who were dismissed for 229 as they chased a target of 351.
Home side Rawalpindi Rams also succeeded in defeating ZTBL by three wickets. Baber Naeem’s 76 off 100 balls helped the Rams chase down the 244-run target.
Silver edition
KRL won by an innings and 51 runs over Hyderabad Hawks to lead the Group I charts.
Sadaf Hussain and Nauman Ali claimed four wickets apiece to bowl out Hawks on 232 in 60.4 overs.
In another Group I match, PTV defeated Lahore Eagles by 226 runs as Muhammad Abbas claimed a 10-wicket haul in the match.
In the Group II matches, HBL leads the board with four wins as they defeated Bahawalpur Stags by nine wickets, with Abdul Rehman claiming six wickets.
Meanwhile, two of the group II matches – SBP vs Sialkot Stallions and SSGC vs Abbottabad Falcons – ended in draws.
