Elevated expressway: Govt’s reply to ‘hasty’ construction

Bench of LHC seeks reply on petitions seeking stay order against construction of expressway from Gulberg to motorway

LAHORE: A full bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday sought a reply from the government till November 14 on petitions seeking a stay order against the construction of an elevated expressway from Gulberg to the motorway. The bench, consisting of Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Aminuddin Khan and Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza, extended the stay order issued earlier on the petitions challenging the construction of the highway through Shadman and Samanabad to the motorway. The petitions have been filed by Masood Sadiq and others. Their counsel said the government had imposed an ‘emergency-like situation’ to acquire the land.
