Open kutchery : SSP hints at search operation
House-to-house search operations against suspected criminals, drug-peddlers to be held in certain areas of the capital
ISLAMABAD:
House-to-house search operations against suspected criminals and drug-peddlers will be held in certain areas of the capital.
While speaking at an open assembly in a mosque in Golra on Friday, Senior Superintendent of the Islamabad Police (SSP) Asmatullah Junejo called for close liaison between the police and the public to curb crime.
During the kutchery, which aimed to win public trust and support, the SSP directed the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) and the Golra SHO to take immediate measures to stem crimes in the area. He also issued directives for strict action against drug-peddling and criminals.
He appealed to residents of the area to cooperate with the police to flush out criminals from the area.
“Effective policing is only possible through the public cooperation. Trust between the police and the citizens would be ensured by resolving their problems at their doorsteps,” the SSP said. He also appealed to the participants to help the police in maintaining peace during Muharram.
Golra Police Station Head Constable Amjad said that around 2,000 people attended the session.
He said that a local complained about the availability of drugs and narcotics in a slum located near Sector F-11, adding that the police informed him that they had registered eight FIRs, made 12 arrests and seized 4.68 kilograms of hashish and 18 bottles of liquor from the area in October as proof of their efforts to address the problem.
