Grenade attack on police van in Karachi injures two constables
The two injured officials were shifted to a nearby hospital
KARACHI:
Two police constables were injured when unknown assailants hurled a grenade at their van on the Nipa flyover in Karachi on Friday evening, Express News reported.
According to police, the officials were in their van on a section of the Nipa flyover which overlooks an Imambargah near Nipa Chowrangi when they were attacked.
District East SSP Pir Muhammad Shah said suspects riding on a motorcycle hurled a hand grenade at the police mobile stationed at Gulshan-e-Iqbal flyover for the security of Madinatul Imambargah.
The two injured officials were shifted to a nearby hospital.
Soon after the attack, Rashid Minhas flyover was blocked for traffic, while a search operation was started in the area.
An extra contingent of law enforcers reached the site and was busy in collecting the evidences.
On Tuesday, a nine-month old girl lost her life when unknown assailants hurled a grenade at the Islamic Research Centre near Ayesha Manzil as a Muharram congregation was in progress.
Meanwhile, Chakiwara police station in Lyari was also attacked by a grenade, whereas two police officials got hurt from firing in Samanabad area.
Two cops were also injured when unknown men opened fire on them near Naagin Chowrangi.
