Allied or not allied?: Imran asks Jamaat-e-Islami to choose sides

Says govt should lower petrol prices by Rs30

ISLAMABAD:
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday censured its coalition partner, saying Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) was playing from both ends of the wicket and asked it to choose sides.

Addressing the sit-in at D-Chowk of the Constitution Avenue, PTI chief Imran Khan took exception to the statement issued by JI chief Sirajul Haq and said “it is not possible for anyone to play from both sides of the wicket.”

Imran asked the JI to take a decision whether it would support the PTI or the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). “It is time for the JI leadership to decide whether it stands with us or with the PML-N leadership,” the PTI chief said.

“Tell me that whether it is ego to stand for the truth and is it not the teaching of our religion to stand for their rights?” he questioned

from Haq.

“What’s wrong with the JI leadership, who tries to engage the PML-N and the PTI to resolve the crisis through Jirga or dialogue,” Imran added.

Later on, the PTI chief warned the government not to take any step to stop its workers from reaching Islamabad on November 30. It is going to be the biggest rally in Islamabad’s history, he added.

While talking about the policies of the government, the PTI chief said that it was because of his party’s protest which had awakened the nation that the government is finally considering decreasing the prices of petroleum products.

Imran had demanded that the government reduce the POL prices in line with the decline in international market a few days ago. On Thursday, he made another demand: “The government should decrease the prices of the petroleum by up to Rs30.”
