Article 245: Army to stay in capital for indefinite period

Deployment of Pakistan Army in the federal capital has been extended for an indefinite period, Express News reported.
As per Article 245 of the Constitution, the military will continue to guard important state institutions, including Parliament, Pakistan Secretariat and Prime Minister’s Secretariat, among others in Islamabad, according to Express News correspondent Sohail Chaudhry.
On July 24, the government had placed key installations in Islamabad under the army’s control for the next three months to ward off any blowback from the ongoing military operation in North Waziristan Agency.
