Anwar Ali to lead Pakistan A against New Zealanders
Eight of the players selected were also part of the four-day match between Pakistan A and Australia.
ABU DHABI:
All-rounder Anwar Ali has been selected to lead the Pakistan A side against New Zealanders in a three-day match to be played from November 3-5 at Abu Dhabi as the national selection committee announced a 15-man squad on Thursday.
The squad includes Abid Ali, Adil Amin, , Adnan Akmal (wicketkeeper), Anwar (captain), Attaullah, Babar Azam, Bilawal Bhatti, Ehsan Adil, Haris Sohail, Junaid Ilyas, Karamat Ali, Raza Hasan, Saad Ali, Sami Aslam and Shaan Masood.
“The selectors are committed to give budding youngsters every opportunity against international sides to express themselves and stake a claim in the Pakistan side,” said chief selector Moin Khan.
Adnan, Attaullah, Azam, Adil, Sohail, Karamat, Raza and Masood were also part of the four-day match between Pakistan A and Australia.
“We are very fortunate to have a big pool of quality cricketers, but only 15 players can be selected for a match. Those not selected for the New Zealand three-dayer should not be disappointed,” added Moin.
“Instead, they must focus on domestic cricket and continue to work hard as every performance will be considered seriously and players showing consistency will be rewarded at some stage.”
Interestingly, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy's current top-scorer Fazal Subhan of Karachi Dolphins failed to make it into the team despite scoring 459 runs in three matches at an average of 76.50, which included a double ton against ZTBL.
