PM restricts ministers from non-essential foreign trips
PM Nawaz calls cabinet meeting on October 31 during which performance of three ministries will be reviewed
ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has stopped federal ministers and ministers of state from going on non-obligatory visits abroad, calling on them to stay in their offices.
According to the PM spokesperson, in order for ministers and ministers of state to concentrate on the work of their respective ministries and avoid unwarranted absences, the prime minister directed that only obligatory visits be taken and non-obligatory meetings may be attended by ambassadors to represent the respective ministries.
Further, the premier has called a Cabinet meeting on Friday, October 31, during which an audit report on the alleged over-billing of electricity will be presented.
The meeting will also entail a performance review of three ministries by the Cabinet, namely the Ministry of Petroleum, Ministry of Planning and Reform and the Ministry of Railways. The meeting will take place in a span of three to four days.
The meeting was initially scheduled to take place on October 28, but was postponed.
