Farid, Ishtiaq score in PIA’s win
Team downs second-placed PAF 2-0 in PPFL

Former national champions PIA stunned PAF 2-0 in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) match at the Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad on Wednesday.
PIA took an early lead with Ghulam Farid scoring in the sixth minute of the match while Muhammad Ishtiaq went on to seal the win in the 41st.
Despite the defeat, PAF remain in second place with 14 points after playing nine matches. This was their second defeat the season.
Meanwhile, PIA moved to fifth position with nine points after five matches.
In the second match of the day, hosts Railways contained Afghan FC 1-1 at the Railways Stadium in Lahore.
Abdul Hakim scored the opening goal in the 13th minute to give Afghan FC the lead before Railways equalised the score through Wajid Ali in the second minute of extra-time before the interval.
Afghan FC’s Awais Khan was declared player of the match.
The Chaman-based club stands on sixth position with nine points after playing eight matches. They have won two matches, drawn three and lost three so far in the season.
Meanwhile, Railways are struggling to stay in the league with six points on the 10th spot after playing eight matches; they have yet to register any win in the tournament, but have drawn six matches.
In today’s fixtures, Wapda will play Muslim FC in Lahore, while Army will take on K-Electric in Islamabad.
