SARGODHA:

Computerised land record offices have been set up in the 143 tehsils of the Punjab.

According a Revenue Department spokesman, the computerisation of land record in 16 districts has been completed. These districts are: Hafizabad, Lodhran, Nankana Sahib, Mandi Bahauddin, Jhelum, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Jhang, Okara, Narowal, Chakwal, Toba Tek Singh, Rahim Yar Khan, Attock, Sargodha and Bahawalpur.

The official said that records of 55 million owners of 24,000 villages had been computerised so far.

“The new system is being run by a professional team of 1,500 people, who have been posted at tehsil level.

This will improve efficiency and discourage corruption in the Revenue Department,” the official said.

He said the project would soon be completed in the rest of the districts.
