Painter, sculptor, illustrator, designer and a founder of the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture (IVS), Imran Mir breathed his last on Tuesday.

Mir, 64, was suffering from problems with his lungs. He is survived by two sons and a widow.
Born in Karachi in 1950, Mir completed his studies from the Central Institute of Arts and Crafts, Karachi and the Ontario College of Art. He also ran CircuitDraftFCB, an advertising agency.
Artist Noorjehan Bilgrami, who studied with Mir at the Arts Council of Pakistan, called his death a ‘huge loss’ to Pakistan’s world of art. Meanwhile, artist Shehnaz Ismail, who had worked with Mir since 1988 when they began to dream about starting IVS called him ‘a master of colour’.
