This or that? Purple-black reign
The 9th Rome Film Festival was held at the Auditorium Parco Della Musica in Rome, Italy
The 9th Rome Film Festival held at the Auditorium Parco Della Musica in Rome, Italy was more than just a star studded bash. The stars rocked looks ranging from “sweet and sassy,” to “edgy and bold.” We saw it all — from Chanel’s corseted dresses embroidered with multicolour pastel sequins to pretty tea-length Dolce & Gabbana brocade gowns with shimmering accented waistbands but some other ensembles stole the show.
One head turner at the event was English-American actor Lily Collins, who never fails to impress with her impeccable lady-like style. The other sultry style was exhibited by American actor Rooney Mara whose eccentric approach to fashion is superlative. Despite being worlds apart in terms of style, Collins and Mara stunned us equally at the red carpet.
Lily Collins
Hair and make-up
Keeping her hair simple, the actor went for a chic wavy retro-bob look that wowed all those glaring. To compliment her dress, the star wore a deep berry-purple lipstick and dramatic smoky eye make-up. And of course, her staple bold eyebrows gave her that chic edge.
Outfit
Collins looked ever so graceful on the red carpet for the Love, Rosie premiere in Italy. Lily made certain, she gave the glamorous natives a run for their money in a show robbing purple Elie Saab gown. Collins worked the dress — made up of purple, lavender and lilac shades. The floor-kissing hem line and yards of flowy fabric had hearts skipping beats. This elegant ombre gown is from the designer’s Spring 2014 Couture collection.
Accessories
The stunning starlet kept it basic with only a Vita Fede ring that rounded out her look. Her strapless dress brought focus on her well sculpted clavicles sans neck accessories.
Rooney Mara
Hair and make-up
The unconventional luminary kept her make-up simpler with cat-eyes and a nude lip. Her hair was neatly tucked back in a bun enhancing that regal vibe she was going for. As for complexion, she went for her usual pale look.
Outfit
The 29-year old Side effects beauty looked sophisticated in black mesh at the premiere of Trash at the Rome Film Festival. It was back to black for Mara, who wore a two-piece design from Balenciaga’s current Spring 2015 collection featuring an arm-restricting sheer crop top and a sheer textural skirt that flaunted her shape. The satin material of her outfit and semi-sheer midi skirt managed to be both elegant and regal, but still fashion forward.
Accessories
Her gothic setup was paired with black sling-back heels that added drama and intrigue to her outfit. As for the accessories, Mara went for a natural finish and opted out of bling.
