Laying blame: MQM stages protest to condemn Khursheed Shah’s remarks
MQM organised a protest demonstration to condemn the PPP leader Khursheed Shah
HYDERABAD:
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) organised a protest demonstration to condemn the Pakistan Peoples Party leader Khursheed Shah for allegedly referring to the word 'muhajir' as an abuse.
Over a thousand supporters gathered outside the press club to express their outrage against his remarks. In his address, MQM's Rabita Committee leader Abdul Haseeb Khan said that the party had taken the matter to court. "Let's see if the courts provide justice against the feudal lords. We want the court to punish Shah according to the law."
Khan warned that the people will take to the streets in protest if the court's judgment was influenced by the powerful quarters to favour Shah. He asked the opposition leader to beseech forgiveness and publish an apology in the newspapers.
The Rabita Committee leader quoted PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's statement in which he warned that he would make the life of Altaf Hussain difficult in London if any PPP worker was killed in Karachi. "What happened to Bilawal [in London] is just the beginning. The people will make their lives difficult even in their rural strongholds."
MNA Waseem Hussain said that the act of abusing the word 'muhajir' could only be penalised through the creation of a muhajir province. "Muhajirs have made Pakistan. It is Karachi and Hyderabad from whose revenue the country is being run." He warned that muhajirs will snatch a province for themselves.
"A meter reader has become a leader of the country. It will be doom day if we lose our patience," warned MQM Hyderabad Zone's in charge Navaid Shamsi. Rabita committee members Shakir Ali, Ghazi Salahuddin and MPAs from Hyderabad also spoke on the occasion.
