Corruption charges: Policeman held for misappropriation

Results in a loss of Rs1.19 million to national exchequer

SWABI: A police official of the investigation branch in Swabi was arrested over corruption charges on Monday. An official of Swabi’s Anti-Corruption Branch, Inspector Amir Hussain, said the accused official, Lal Zada, was working as a pay officer at SP Investigations Office in Swabi. Hussain added investigation proved that Lal Zada swindled money from benevolent, medical and welfare funds as well as funds for the construction of a mosque and security allotments. The misappropriation resulted in a loss of Rs1.19 million to the national exchequer. Further investigation is under way.
