Rafique, a resident of Chak 596-GB, told The Express Tribune that Asif*, 20, had invited the girl to his home, promising to give her candies. “The girl went along with him. On the way, he overpowered the girl and carried her to the nearby sugarcane field, where he raped her and fled. The girl was taken to a local hospital by villagers. Her condition was later reported as out of danger,” he said.
Bahlak Station House Officer (SHO) Bashir Ahmad said that a complaint had been registered. He said a police team had arrested the suspect.
“We are interrogating him. We have also asked for a medico-legal report,” the SHO said. Separately, a woman was raped by a man in Samundri.
According to police, the woman, a resident of Shahbaz Sharif Park, was home alone when a neighbour forced his way into her home and raped her. The Samundri City SHO said that police had registered a case and were looking for the suspect.
