Contributing to a cause: Real estate developer hands over Rs50m to Edhi

Philanthropist was robbed of millions in cash and gold on Sunday.

KARACHI:

A cheque of Rs50 million was presented to renowned philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi on behalf of real estate developer, Bahria Town, by its director Zain Malik on Friday.

Talking to the media, Edhi thanked Bahria Town for assisting his social welfare organisation, helping it to continue its mission to serve humanity. "I am happy that where there are robbers, there are also God-fearing people in this country who vow to help in times of need," he said. "This has reignited my spirit to work for welfare."

Malik said that the reason for the contribution was to support the cause of human welfare, which was a priority for Bahria Town. "We were deeply grieved by the mishap and the sorrow that Edhi Sahab has encountered," he said. "We have assured him that we stand with him at this moment and beyond. Whenever he needs our help for any welfare cause, he can always count on us."

Edhi was held at gunpoint and deprived of cash and gold estimated to be worth millions of rupees on Sunday.
