In court: Notices sent in missing person’s case

Petitioner claims her husband is being illegally detained

KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court issued notices on Friday to the home secretary, the provincial police chief and other police officials to submit their replies on a petition seeking the recovery of a missing man.

The division bench, headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, was hearing a petition filed by Erum Khatoon, who moved the court seeking the recovery of her husband, Syed Asif Raza Zaidi.

She alleged that law enforcement personnel took Zaidi away from their residence in Federal B Area on October 23.

She added that her brothers and other relatives approached the Samanabad SHO and other police officials to seek Zaidi, but they feigned ignorance about the incident.

Saying that her husband was being illegally detained, she said that they should have produced him in a court if he was involved in a criminal case.

She pleaded to the court to order the respondents to produce Zaidi in court.
