Remedial work for Ajmal extended

Off-spinner will be sent to England for final testing

KARACHI:
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has extended Saeed Ajmal’s remedial work under former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq’s watch by 15 days in the Cricket Committee meeting in Lahore on Wednesday.

After further remedial work in the next fortnight, Ajmal will be sent to a test centre in England approved by the International Cricket Council to ascertain the exact degree of improvement in the ace off-spinner’s action.

The meeting was attended by Board of Governors’ members Najam Sethi, Mansoor Masood Khan, PCB Chief Operating Officer Subhan Ahmed, Muhammad Akram and Ali Zia on special invitation by PCB Chairman Shahryar Khan.

The Cricket Committee was briefed in detail on the work done so far.

“Ajmal has been tested on the 2D equipment at the National Cricket Academy, where he has shown significant improvement,” said PCB Cricket Committee Chairman Asad Shakil. “After the remedial work is complete, he will be tested in a state-of-the art lab with 3D facility.”
