Last resort: Woman threatens self-immolation if not served justice
Zaibunnisa claims police siding with those who kidnapped her daughter.
RISALPUR:
A woman from Risalpur has threatened to set herself and her child on fire if she is not served justice against her opponents and the police.
Speaking at Risalpur Press Club on Monday, Zaibunnisa, 42, said Shehzad, Majeed and their accomplice allegedly barged into her house and abducted her engaged to be wed daughter Reema at gunpoint.
She said that following the incident, her husband Diyar Khan and other elders of the area convened a jirga in Khandar area of Nowshera. She added while the jirga was being held, Risalpur police conducted a raid and arrested her husband and another elder on the request of her opponents.
Zaibunnisa said when she reached Risalpur police station to file a complaint, the officials pushed her out of the premises. She alleged that the law enforcers later raided her house without a search warrant and took away her 11-year-old son Waqas. The woman also accused the police of stealing Rs11,000.
She appealed to Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, IGP Nasir Durrani, Mardan DIG Saeed Khan and Nowshera DPO to provide her justice, saying otherwise she will commit self-immolation.
