Imran Khan fobs off Bilawal’s claims
PTI chairman says he prefers 'not to respond to a kid'
ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Saturday declined to respond to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s claims that the PTI sit-in was aimed at toppling the government at someone else’s behest, arguing that he preferred “not to respond to a kid”.
However, Imran promised to respond to the PPP in his next rally in Gujrat. He was addressing his supporters on the 65th day of the D-Chowk sit-in.
On the one hand, Imran said, there is PTI and on the other is the status quo. He said his party had given the people a third option to two political dynasties. “Had there not been PTI, the people would have been slaves of Sharifs and Zardari,” he added.
The PTI chairman once again focused on corruption and alleged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former president Asif Ali Zardari for stashing ill-gotten money out of the country.
He said that both leaders had not declared their assets. “Ask Zaradri and Nawaz Sharif how much money they have out of the country,” Imran said. At least Bilawal should declare his assets, he said.
Talking about the PPP’s famous slogan of Roti, Kapra aur Makan, Imran said that “people can be given these things when there is no corruption.” And it takes a lot to end corruption, he added.
At the same time, he censured the PPP, saying “it happens in dynastic rule that leadership is transferred to a son.”
He said that both Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif were scared that after coming to power, Imran Khan would bring back their looted money and therefore had teamed up.
On the other hand, he said, people trusted him. In order to substantiate his point he mentioned receiving Rs 50 million from Saudi Arabia for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital and Research Centre.
The cricketer-turned-politician once again discussed rigging in the 2013 general elections and referred to a report of the Election Commission of Pakistan [ECP] and said that the commission had admitted that there had been rigging in 20 constituencies.
Talking about the PPP’s show of power in Karachi, Imran Khan said that “the PPP had tried to copy PTI,” and alleged the PPP had organised the rally by using state money.
