PAT meeting: Security, traffic arrangements finalized

Police say more than 3,000 police officials would be deployed at Minto Park

LAHORE: Police said on Sunday they had made foolproof security arrangement for the Pakistan Awami Tehrik’s (PAT) public meeting at Minar-i-Pakistan on Sunday (today).

More than 3,000 police officials would be deployed at Minto Park. They will be led by three superintendents (SP), 30 deputy superintendents and 40 station house officers. Plainclothesmen would also be deployed, police said.

CCTV cameras and walkthrough gate will be installed at the venue. City Traffic Police has finalised arrangements to ensure smooth flow of traffic during the meeting.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Tayyab Hafeez Cheema said on Saturday three SPs, seven DSPs, 55 inspectors and 1,500 traffic wardens would be on duty. The CTO said appropriate parking arrangements had been made at Minto Park. He said City Traffic Police would do its best to keep the flow of traffic in the vicinity. Cheema said three jeeps, seven mini trucks, 16 cars, 125 heavy bikes, 73 motorcycles, 14 lifters and 50 barriers had been arranged to manage traffic the venue of the public meeting. He said diversions would also be made around the park. The chief traffic officer directed the superintendents concerned to patrol the designated area on Sunday.
