Fresh arrival: Capital warms up to new coffeehouse

Espresso Lounge comes up with another outlet at F-10

ISLAMABAD:

As the mercury drops, coffee lovers have yet another place to get their caffeine fix and enjoy snacks in the capital.

Espresso Lounge opened up an outlet at the Silver Oaks apartment complex in Sector F-10 on Friday evening.

A spiral staircase leads down to the coffeehouse in the basement, extending to the exterior where guests can relax in an outdoor, casual setting.

The interior houses comfortable sofa seats and couches around tables styled like wooden chests. The place exudes a warm, cozy feeling, away from the humdrum of commercial plazas.

“The edge we have over other places is that this place is peaceful, quiet and secure,” said Haseeb Haider, owner of the outlet.

The coffeehouse chain, with a capacity to seat 120 people, first opened an outlet in Jinnah Super market back in 2004 and has since expanded business to Peshawar.

“We’ve received overwhelming response from our customers which is why we have opened another outlet here in Islamabad,” Haider added.

Treats on the menu include chocolate cake made from imported Belgian chocolate and gelato ice-cream, reminiscent of Italian cuisine. It also serves steaks, sandwiches and thin-crust pizzas. Other items include shakes and smoothies, ice cream, pasta, burgers and sandwiches.

Serving hors d’oeuvres and mocktails, the red-carpet launch attracted people from different walks of life including businessmen, diplomats, politicians, journalists and models.

“While there are many coffee houses sprouting up all over the city, but this is the first one in this area and I’m glad that we finally have one over here.

It is close to both my office and home so I think I’ll be coming here quite often,” said Usama Khan, a guest at the launch.
